Review of the Oppo A76 smartphone - The Oppo A76 smartphone was introduced in February 2022 in India. In addition to being launched in the UK, the phone will be released in many other countries as well. Purely from the design perspective, the phone looks like the Oppo A96, especially since the camera module is designed in the same way. Several of their smartphones look similar to other Oppo smartphones, which isn't surprising. Their specifications, however, differ greatly. In addition to 5G not being supported, the phone does have an impressive display, camera, chipset, and battery. We should expect nothing short of extraordinary from this phone. In this review, we take a close look at the Oppo A76 smartphone.

Oppo A76 Smartphone Review

Highlights

  1. The Oppo A76 features a 6.56-inch IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate.
  2. The Snapdragon 680 4G SoC, clocked at up to 2.4GHz, powers the smartphone.
  3. The phone runs Android 11.1, with ColorOS 11.1 on top.
  4. There is a 13MP sensor on the back, and there is an 8MP sensor on the front.
  5. There is a 5000mAh Li-Po battery on the phone, allowing for fast charging of 33W.

Design and Display

There is something new about the Oppo A76's design compared to the previous models in Oppo's "A" series. Unlike the previous models, this phone is made entirely from plastic. However, the round edges are actually good because they provide a firm grip that makes it impossible for your phone to slide out of your hand. Our only wish was that it had a glass back or a more premium design, considering the high price tag.
In terms of its front, it has a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display and a punch-hole for the selfie camera. This display panel has a 90Hz refresh rate and is of good quality. When exposed to direct sunlight, the panel can achieve as much brightness as 600 nits. In spite of being an IPS panel, it displays accurate colors, and its contents look fine on it. While not everyone will be happy with the lack of Full HD resolution, it is what it is. Glowing Blue and Glowing Black are the two colors available.

Camera

When it comes to cameras, there's nothing exciting to look forward to. A 13MP primary sensor, with a depth sensor of 2MP, and an 8MP front-facing camera complete the back of the device. Even though it has a 13MP sensor, the photos do not have a very high quality due to the price tag.
It does, however, have an 8MP selfie camera that can take decent selfies with accurate skin tones and decent color balance. It is too noisy for social media sites to post night shots in certain situations. Even with the night mode on, the phone's pictures are just average, even in low-light conditions. With both the rear camera as well as the selfie camera on the phone, you can record videos in up to 1080P@30FPS.

Memory and Internal

In terms of the internals, the phone has a 6nm Snapdragon 680 SoC, which lacks a 5G modem, so 5G connectivity does not exist. With a 2.4GHz clocking speed, the phone can handle high-performance applications and gaming needs smoothly. With 4 powerful and 4 power-efficient cores, your phone will have more power for running powerful apps and games, and less power for running low-power apps like Youtube.
PUBG and CODm are playable at lower graphics settings with the Adreno 610 GPU, but you won't be very satisfied with the performance. There will be occasional lags from time to time, and a game like Genshin Impact will have difficulties running smoothly. The two available models are the 4GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage and the 6GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage.
MicroSD cards are also supported if you wish to expand the storage beyond the 128GB of internal storage. In terms of the operating system, you get Android 11, with ColorOS 11.1 UI on top. Let's hope the operating system is updated to Android 12. Newer phones are being launched with Android 11 OS, even though Android 12 has been out for months.

Battery and others

with a 5000mAh Li-Po battery, the Oppo A76 is also equipped with a 33W fast charger. While charging, the fast performs quite well compared with other smartphones and does not overheat. In actuality, this smartphone is able to deliver a 2-day battery life with its impressive battery.
Furthermore, the phone features Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 5, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. At a price of around $225 (about 16,990 rupees in India), the Oppo A76 was introduced in India. There is a little difference in price between the base model and the 6GB model.

Oppo A76 Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Long battery life.
  • Fast charging up to 33W.
  • Particular MicroSD card slot.
  • Support ColorOS 11.1 custom UI.
  • Bright IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate.
  • Decent brightness screen.
  • Acceptable performance when used daily.

Cons

  • Memory and storage support is limited.
  • There is no Android OS update.
  • Maximum 720p resolution on display.
  • Average camera performance.
  • No NFC and 5G support.
  • Heavy games may result in a heating problem.
  • No Gyro-EIS for video recording.
  • No reverse charging support.

Conclusion

The Oppo A76 is a phone with two definite attractions, and those are the design and the internals, though even that isn't that impressive considering the price. If you like the design and processor of this smartphone or if you like the Oppo brand, you should buy this smartphone. However, if you want something better, you have many options at this price point. With regards to Oppo A76, we don't think the cost is justified, but the final decision depends on you.

Oppo Company: The smartphone giant

Have you ever heard of the Chinese smartphone company Oppo? You probably haven’t. Despite its growth in recent years, it still hasn’t broken into the mainstream American market yet, but it does have a strong presence overseas and in China specifically, where it launched its first phone all the way back in 2004. Since then, it has carved out a niche in the Android world and has become known as one of the best quality phone brands available today. But what is Oppo, exactly? And why should you consider giving them your business over other companies like Samsung and LG?

Introducing: OPPO

One of the best-kept secrets in mobile phone technology is a Chinese company you probably haven’t heard of. But if your kid gets one for Christmas, or if you need to replace your smartphone and don’t want to spend a fortune, then it might be time to learn more about OPPO. Founded in 2004 and based in Dongguan, China, OPPO began by selling accessories for Samsung phones but quickly branched out into making its own. To date, it has sold over 120 million handsets; that places it among Samsung and Apple as one of China’s biggest mobile manufacturers – yet unlike those other two companies, little is known about OPPO outside Asia.

OPPO's History

Mobile phones aren't exactly new, and smartphones are so ubiquitous they're almost mundane. So when a company like OPPO comes along, it's easy to overlook them in favor of more prominent brands like Apple and Samsung. But if you were paying attention to cellphones over recent years, it shouldn't be surprising that OPPO has become such a force in the industry. They've made some pretty big moves, and their phones have some impressive specs; here's a closer look at Oppo and what makes them such an interesting brand to watch.

How did OPPO become a leading smartphone manufacturer?

Did you know that China’s OPPO actually produced over 20 million smartphones in 2014? And did you know that they’re one of only seven companies to hit both 100 million and 200 million sales? You probably didn’t, because while Huawei, Lenovo, Samsung, and other major players duke it out for top-of-mind brand recognition in Western markets, OPPO flies under most people’s radar. But if their product offerings are any indication, it won’t be long before we all start hearing a lot more about them.
